If your screen is flashing a warning, playing an alarm, or telling you to call a phone number right now, that is a scam. Microsoft will never put a phone number on your screen. Neither will Apple, Norton, or your bank. Don't call it. Don't let anyone you don't know connect to your computer. Call me instead.
I'll get the popup off, find out whether anything actually got installed, and clean it out. Then I'll sit with you, in person or on the phone, and show you what these things look like so the next one doesn't scare you.
If you already called the number and gave someone access or a card number, don't be embarrassed. It happens to smart people every day. Call me first and we'll go through what to do, including who to call at your bank.
Turn the computer off. Call me. Then call your bank or card company and tell them what happened. I'll check the computer for anything they left behind.
Windows comes with good protection built in. Most of the paid programs people get talked into are not worth the money, and some of them are the problem. I'll tell you what you actually need, which is usually nothing extra.
Often, yes, as long as you can still get online. If the computer is locked up or you're not comfortable, I'll come to the house.
Call (803) 265-8088. If I'm under someone's desk, leave a message and I'll call you back the same day.
$175 remote or $275 at your house, up to two hours. Card when it's done.
